Abstract： Microbes colonize many sites in the human body, contributing to both health and disease. This seminar will present the current status of some key methods for studying the microbiome, both data collection and data analysis, as well as examples of how the microbiome changes with disease as well as with different healthy states, such as professional athletes. While the field is at its early stages, some insights into both complexity as well as mechanism are being found.
