報告摘要：Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as a problematic opportunistic human pathogen due to its increasingly multi-drug resistance nature. While the mechanisms of resistance and molecular epidemiology of this bacterium have been investigated extensively, its pathogenesis is poorly understood. The talk by Prof. Xu will describe the complete genome sequencing of a hypervirulent and multidrug-resistant clinical strain of A. baumannii, LAC-4, comparative genomics, phenotypic and molecular features between LAC-4 and other clinical strains of A. baumannii.

報告人簡介🫕：Prof. H. Howard Xu is a Professor of Microbiology, Department of Biological Sciences, California State University, Los Angeles. He obtained his PhD degree in Microbial Genetics at University of Minnesota. He has worked as senior scientist or project manager in Elitra Pharmaceuticals, Inc., ChromaXome Corp/Trega Biosciences, Inc., and MicroGenomics, Inc. prior to becoming a faculty at California State University. His research interests involve: novel antibiotic drug discovery; mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and virulence; discovery of therapeutic agents targeting resistance or virulence processes.
